SENKO develops, manufactures, markets, and distributes over 1000 fiber optic products worldwide for the telecom and datacom industries. The company also provides multinational corporations with the technical expertise to liaise with engineers and the manufacturing flexibility to develop custom products for the ever-growing high-tech industry.
Challenge: Dated Website Lacked Usability
SENKO needed a website that reflects the company’s brand and industry position better. The site they came to us with was programmed in static HTML, making it very difficult to update. A dated appearance and navigation difficulty also contributed to the need for a redesign and the desire to house a robust resources section and launch a searchable online catalog featuring their 200+ products.
Solution: Updated Design and Enhanced Functionality
SENKO had put in the time before engaging with us on this project, internally working on a demo site for a year on their own. As a result of their hard work, they identified a rough content structure, site elements, and baseline functionality and provided direction on the overall site design.
We took the reins from there and hit the ground running, designing and developing a clean, attractive site that functions well and is easy to navigate. We built a Woocommerce product catalog, included the ability to request a quote, and integrated it with a custom-built product configurator plugin that lets website visitors view the products in 3D.
We also constructed new learning and resource sections, allowing the company to highlight its thought leadership. These sections feature SENKO’s multimedia content, including videos, white papers, training guides, and more.
Other notable site enhancements include a new product search and filter tool, integration with the G-Translate plugin for automatic Google translations, and incorporation of social media channels directly into the website.
Simultaneously with the website development, SENKO was working directly with other 3 Media Web team members on a Digital Experience Optimization project, where they perfected their launch strategy and marketing surrounding the new website.
The Results
Comparing year over year, visitor engagement is up significantly. Time spent on the site has nearly doubled, pages per visit have increased by 50%, and the bounce rate has dropped over 20%! The traffic mix shows a strong increase in organic search traffic, indicating it reaches audiences with less promotional effort.
The new website also provides a better tool for product discovery and understanding SENKO’s expertise, history, and differentiators. The updated 3D interactive models on the product pages support the customer experience as it helps them visualize and confirm their product configuration.
