Start-Up Company with Urgent Need
The client expressed an immediate need for a website landing page to present Dermelix Biotherapeutics as an innovative, ethical biopharma that is moving forward with urgency to target rare genetic skin disorders. This landing page had to launch within weeks from the initial creative meeting with the client to coincide with World Rare Diseases Day.
3 Media Web went to work immediately, and within days they designed a landing page linked to the client’s press release for World Rare Disease Day. The landing page was the basis for the website design and used the new Dermelix helix logo.
The graphic helix is featured throughout the Dermelix website as static illustration superimposed over photo images and as filler illustrations to reinforce the brand on each website page. The helix element of the logo is also used within animated illustrations that explain in detail the client’s medical approach.
Complex Message Delivered with Organization and Precision
The Dermelix website presented the challenges of a start-up biotech company whose design and content needed to be precise and organized in such a way to resonate with various constituencies: the medical community, patient families, and investors.
3 Media Web worked closely with two key Dermelix creators to help organize the website to meet their target markets’ needs. The resulting website has straightforward navigation and easy-to-understand content that delivers its complex message. The Home page announces the company’s key message boldly and directly with the statement: “Harnessing Innovative Science to Improve Patients’ Lives” superimposed over a close-up of the skin. The helix logo graphic elements are also used here and throughout the site to support branding efforts.
The company’s single focus: “Rapidly developing innovative therapies for rare genetic skin diseases,” is reinforced with a pop-up graphic that explains that more than 1000 rare genetic skin diseases have been identified, and only 0.6% have FDA approvals.
These vital statistics provide the foundational aspects of the company’s mission and passion.

3 Media Web worked with the Los Angeles graphic design firm that Dermelix Biotherapeutics had retained to design a logo and branding package. Throughout the process, 3 Media Web coordinated branding efforts utilizing the logo and branding they developed.

Scrolling down the Home page, the reader encounters the illustrated helix of the Dermelix logo beside an introduction to the Science behind the therapies. A button inviting the reader to Learn more links to explain the company’s integrated product platforms, supported with graphic illustrations. These illustrations of their medical approach, both animated and fixed, and created by 3 Media Web, resulted from close communications with the client and were tweaked until they were detailed and precisely accurate to meet their high standards.
Easy to Navigate
The main navigation bar highlights the client’s major points to convey to the three target audiences – patients and their families, the medical community, and investors.
The About page explains the company’s commitment and underlying passion for the work they are doing. The Leadership page uses the helix design to outline the key employees on the Dermelix team and link to a brief bio. The Pipeline page includes a chart of clinical trials and logos of collaborating companies, along with an invitation to link to the NIH US National Library of Medicine for more information about clinical trials.
The Our Science page demonstrates the pioneering approach of the Dermelix Antenatal Therapeutics and Topical SNA Technology, each with animated helix-outlined illustrations. The history of the therapy is shown within an animated graphic timeline.
