Get to Know Project Manager Shelby Fogleman

Shelby recently joined our team as a Project Manager at 3 Media Web, and we’re glad she’s here. With over 10 years of website and digital marketing project management experience, Shelby will be working with 3 Media Web clients on bringing their website, design, and digital marketing needs to life. The Louisiana-born karaoke aficionado can’t say enough about her passion for the complex, challenging, and ever-changing work that digital agency life offers.

“It’s just always something new,” expresses Shelby. “When you’re in the ‘agency life,’ you get to work on all different types of projects. I’ve worked with hospitals, nonprofits, and even cemeteries. I find it so interesting! I get to learn in-depth about all these different industries—without actually having to work in them. It’s exciting to get their digital presence up and running and say, ‘Look, I did that!’” Shelby’s appetite for learning new industries is a great quality for 3 Media Web’s wide range of clients.

Stand Out and Figure It Out

Shelby has always been a writer at heart and is a published poet. After graduating from Louisiana State University at Alexandria (LSUA), she was hit with the realities of a competitive job market. Shelby explains, “I started my career as a blog writer for a digital agency. The application process required a written blog, and I knew I had to stand out. I ended up getting the job because I wrote a blog on ’how not to write a blog.’ It was funny and creative and I got to show my personality. “That resourcefulness would only grow her career momentum.

From there, Shelby moved on to fill the need for an account manager — without any experience. With determination and a “figure it out” attitude, Shelby excelled at account management and was then asked to tackle project management. The love of a challenge helped Shelby work her way up from there, as she discovered her “sweet spot” in project management for digital marketing agencies.

Staying Cool, Calm, and Cajun

Shelby wants her clients to know that she runs a tight ship when it comes to managing projects. “I am very structured. I cross my Ts and dot my Is.” Shelby holds herself to a very high standard and emphasizes the importance of building and maintaining client trust through authenticity. “I’m not a machine. Effectively managing my clients’ projects while being able to be myself and let my personality shine is important to me. I hope that I merge the two well,” expresses Shelby.

This approach can be really helpful when navigating project challenges. Shelby explains, “You can do everything right with a project, and there will still be bumps in the road. I have found that if I can just be myself when issues arise—my pure, loud, authentic Cajun self—it makes it much easier to build trust and open up lines of communication. I call it ‘keeping my humanity’ in the industry. I crack jokes. If I mess up, I call attention and present a solution. Clients seem to appreciate it.”

Shelby enjoys spending time with her kids, dog, and boyfriend. She loves a good cookout, live music, and awesome karaoke. “Back home, there’s a place called ‘The Station’ built out of a train car — it has the best karaoke. No one there knew anyone’s name, but we would all be each other’s biggest fans. I’m inspired by artists like Tina Turner and Whitney Houston.”

Looking Forward to Figuring It Out

As with any challenge, Shelby is leaning on her “figure it out” mentality. We are excited to have her positivity, authenticity, and perseverance here at 3 Media Web, and we’re sure our clients are too.
