Catholic Charities Boston helps meet the diverse needs of communities throughout Eastern Massachusetts by providing services to the most vulnerable populations. They are one of the largest social service non-profit organizations in Massachusetts, serving people, regardless of religion, race, gender, age, disability, or ethnicity.
The Challenge
The organization came to 3 Media Web for assistance in overhauling their dated website in order to improve the user experience of site visitors. Over the years, huge amounts of information had been added to the website, but much of it was extremely hard to find. The client was looking to make information easily accessible for the people they serve.
Web and Logo Design
We created a clean website design that quickly communicates the organization’s value and services. Iconography and photography throughout the site add visual interest and engage audiences. We also refreshed the non-profit’s logo, leveraging key brand elements and providing a rejuvenated take on an old presence.
Content Development
One of the main charters of this project was to simplify website content. We took a full inventory of the content that lived on the site, and developed a plan for presenting the information in a more digestible way. Working with the client, we prioritized copy, built page structures to support information gathering by site visitors, and interviewed key personnel to fill any knowledge gaps. We wrote copy for the entire site, updating voice, tone, and style as appropriate, and weaving the non-profit’s mission throughout.
Experience and Accessibility Improvements
A vastly simplified user experience benefits site visitors. The new sitemap focuses on key pages and the improved internet architecture includes thoughtful page layouts providing key content to effectively guide users to the information they seek. Built on WordPress, the new site is nimble and can adapt to seasonal content and promotions, continuously making the website relevant and fresh. We also performed an accessibility review of the site. The new site is certified WCAG compliant.
We were very impressed by their design capabilities, willingness to collaborate, and creative ideas.
